In 1989, Thermo-King Corporation, the world leader in Transport Temperature Control, decided to expand to meet the needs of European container refrigeration customers.
Due to it's excellent geographic location, the port of Antwerp was chosen as the most strategically located point for distribution in Europe. Thanks to its outstanding reputation as a major reefer container spare parts service centre for a number of other manufacturers, Thornton and Co was appointed as the new Thermo-King European Warehouse.
The Thermo-King Antwerp team handle spare parts distribution to more than 80 European Service Centres and to major shipping lines such as Maersk, P & O Nedlloyd, Hamburg-Sued, Hapag Lloyd, OOCL, CMA/CGM, CSAV, Costa Container Lines, Eimskip, HMM, etc.
Due to the extensive stock levels, (we presently keep more than 2000 different part numbers!), which are controlled by a custom-designed inventory control software package, we can guarantee a very high fill rate, a short order processing time and an excellent customer service. Since dealers and customers have access to a parts warehouse nearby, this substantially reduces the parts inventory which they themselves need to maintain which is a great savings opportunity.
Our goal is to have genuine Thermo-King spare parts with our customers where they need them and when they need them! This means less container down time which translates into increased profitability for our customers.
